My name is Olfer C. Viernes, the owner of Olfer's. Many people asked me why I have an unusual name. There is a story
on this. My parents had seven girls and one boy. My dad wanted all the first initials of the girls in the family to spell
the word: FLOWERS. I am the third baby girl, and inorder to make it work to flowers,
they gave me the name OLFER, kind of coined it and it stuck to me, and I love it.
By profession, when I first came to Toronto, Canada, I was a personal care giver and I felt that this is not my calling.
You see, I am an artist by heart, other than making people beautiful, I paint and I make extra money doing this. Ambition
kicked in and I went to school to pursue a cosmetologist career and I love every minute of it, because I make children, men
and women of all ages happy, satisfied and a I am glad I could help them feel better about themselves when they leave my business.
Come to mind of a poem written by Ralph Waldo Emerson in his poem "Rhodora", that goes:
"Tell me dear, if the moon and star would ask you why,
Tell them this, a thing of beauty is a joy forever."
Making people beautiful is my business and I am proud of it and glad of it.
Every customer who has come and visited me always give me compliments and I am happy, because if they are happy, so am
I.
I have a Hairstylist. Her name is Lha Moe, a lovely lady who originally came from Burma. She is married and has two boys,
whom she adores. I taught her some tricks of the trade and she learned fast, efficient and dependable.
